Beef and Cabbage

1/2 lb ground beef 
1/2 cup chopped onion 
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup instant rice
3 cups shredded cabbage
1(10 3/4 oz) can tomato soup
1/2 cup water
3 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  In medium skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground beef.  Add onion, salt, pepper and rice. 

Simmer 3 minutes.  Place half shredded cabbage in greased casserole dish.  Cover the cabbage with the meat/rice mixture and the crumbled bacon.  Then top with remaining cabbage.  In small mixing bowl, combine tomato soup and water and pour over casserole.  Bake uncovered 40 minutes.  4 to 6 servings.
